Street Installation (2017)
Digital Polling Station (2017, Ongoing)

A collaboration with D.S. Kinsel

#ColorPoll2017 is an expanded digital/IRL (In Real Life) iteration of my project, Color Poll (2017) created in collaboration with BOOM Concepts founder, D.S. Kinsel.

Drawing from Kinsel’s street art installation practice, #ColorPoll2017 expands the universe of Color Poll by utilizing physical and digital materials and spaces to provide new entry points, and greater accessibility to Color Poll — a project that has previously only lived in designated art spaces (ex. gallery, music venue, art festival)

Street installation allows a public to encounter the Color Poll prompt (“Pick a color; Give it a name”) and the nine corresponding colors in public space. Each installation is linked to online sites of collection on Instagram and Twitter, where participants can share their responses using @-tags and hashtags. Together, IRL and digital spaces merge to create a commons for assigning names to colors.

As research, Color Poll and #ColorPoll2017 seek to capture the language and imaginaries that people use to assign names to colors. #ColorPoll2017 allows for an ever expanding sample size as the project is shared across physical and digital geographies.

Participate in the digital Color Poll at @ColorPoll2017 on Instagram and Twitter.
