Color PollColor Poll Inspired by Hans Haacke’s MoMA Poll (1970), Color Poll is an interactive polling station where the public collaborates on re/naming colors, and, together, explores cultures of color-naming across household paint companies. In August 2017, in collaboration with D.S. Kinsel, the world of Color Poll was expanded through street installation and online poll on Instagram and Twitter – together forming an expanded universe called #ColorPoll2017. By utilizing physical and digital materials and spaces #ColorPoll2017 provides new entry points, and greater accessibility to Color Poll — a project that has previously only lived in designated art spaces (ex. gallery, music venue, art festival) As research, Color Poll and #ColorPoll2017 seek to capture the language and imaginaries that people use to assign names to colors. #ColorPoll2017 allows for an ever expanding sample size as the project is shared across physical and digital geographies.
